Well it's official. My baby is 1! I can't believe how fast this year has flown by. Everyone said to enjoy it that it would go SO fast. I didn't really understand just what they meant but now I do. Hudson is walking, telling us stories and keeping us entertained with his daily stunts.
These past couple of months we have kept busy both inside and out depending on the weather which was fairly unpredictable. We have taken another camping trip. This time with Jay's cousin Leanne and her husband Callum and their 2 fabulous kids, Ava and Owen. We went to Burnt Stick Lake which was beautiful but the weather didn't exactly cooperate and we weren't able to go swimming. But the "boys" took some time to go fishing. But didn't catch anything. I spent most of the weekend playing "Keep the rocks out of Hudson's Mouth". Which is a very long and trying game. Hopefully for our next trip he can look past the rocks but I'm not counting on it.
Hudson's hair was getting long, full of lots of curls in the back and very cute but it was time for a haircut. We headed down to Scissors where Auntie Denise gave Hudson his first haircut and styled in a Mohawk. So very cute. He was really good. I was a little worried as he is very squirmy. But a bag of Gold Fish crackers helped us get through the cut even though I'm sure a few (or a lot) of hair was ingested as well.
We spent a sunny day at the Lacombe Corn Maze with my boss and yes we did make it out of the maze. Who cares if we came out the same way that we went in. It was time for ice cream anyway. Hudson loved the sand box and the very cool cornbox they had set up. We watched the Pig Race and took a ride down the giant slide. Which he wasn't too sure about.
The Birthday Party was next on the to do list. Unfortunately the weather didn't really cooperate with us that day so the house was a little crowded but we made it. We started the day off by going to the Harvest Fest parade in Millet. It was a little nippy out. And then the fun began. Hudson's party theme was Monkeys. We had monkey plates, cups, napkins, hats, balloon, and banana candies and cake. I made my first attempt at making a themed cake and even if I do say so myself it turned out pretty good. We had lots of friends and family join us for the special day. Hudson was a little helpful when opening presents but was more interested in getting his hands on every ones cameras. Then we sang Happy Birthday and Hudson didn't know what to think. He had kind of the deer in the headlights kind of look. Thinking what is going on these people really shouldn't be singing. But when it came time to eat the cake he was all game. He scarfed that down like there was no tomorrow. And gave us some good photos.
This weekend we are going on our last camping trip of the year with Hudson's friend Kailyn and her Mommy and Daddy and we get to celebrate once again since we didn't get to each others parties. We will have a private party with cupcakes and presents.
Today was Hudson's first year immunizations and I wasn't really concerned as he usually does fine however this time was a little different. He had to have 3 shots; 2 in the leg and 1 in the arm. For the first 2 there wasn't even a peep. The nurse said that the one in the arm would hurt more. So when she gave that one I was prepared. He tried to pull away but again no peep. I couldn't believe it! 3 shots and no tears. What a trooper. Hopefully I don't pay for it later.
We found out today that Hudson is only 23.6 lbs (75th percentile) which surprised me as he definately feels heavier than that and 30.5" tall which is the 95th percentile. And his head circumfrence is still in the 34th percentile at 46cm. What?
We are very lucky to have such a busy and yet content baby. He continues to be a good eater and sleeper. He has 8 teeth now! It must almost be time to go see the dentist.
As a lot of my teacher friends are heading back to work tomorrow. I wish them Good Luck and a very successful year. I on the other hand have taken a 1 year leave of absence and am hoping to do a little bit of subbing here and there. Which will allow me to spend more time with our little angel.:)
